nehan Retreat Center is a retreat facility set in roughly 20,000 square meters of forest at the southern foot of the Yatsugatake mountains in Kobuchizawa, Japan — about two hours from Tokyo. Perched on a small hill between two streams, with a large white retreat dome at its heart, it exists for one purpose: to give you the space to meet your true self, through breath, sound, and nature. This is not a sightseeing stop, and not simply a place to stay — it is a place designed for stepping out of daily life and turning inward, held by the quiet of the forest.

The place
Facilities.
The grounds cover about 20,000 square meters of forest, with the sound of two streams always somewhere nearby.
- Retreat dome — the large central tent, used for sessions and immersive programs
- 20,000 m² of forest — walkable grounds on a hill embraced by two streams
- Meditation spaces & shared lounge — in development, along with future lodging buildings
- Outdoor facilities — basic power, outdoor lighting, campfires in designated areas
We chose closeness to nature over hotel-style comfort. What you give up in polish, you gain in direct contact with the forest.
